Vedanta

One of the key beliefs in Vedanta is that our heart is the core of our being. All our thoughts, emotions, intentions and actions arise from it. The heart is like the eye of a hurricane, a deep repository of total silence and peace. The mind, on the other hand, is like the wind that causes turbulence, clouding our perception. Our logical mind, which is deeply conditioned by the environment, dictates our thoughts and actions. But the real source of our being rests within the heart; it is only through self-enquiry that one realises the true self. It is only when we understand this innately that we are able to achieve our full potential.

At Shreyas, everything we do encourages you to discover yourself to help you align with the universe. The essential stage of one’s spiritual journey is to attain samadhi – a state of being where things naturally reveal themselves to us as they are, leading to moksha–freedom from suffering. When the mind and the heart are out of alignment, we are disconnected from the deep well of creativity, power and authenticity that resides within the heart; we suffer deeply as the mind runs ceaselessly in a never-ending cycle, searching for happiness and satisfaction from external sources.

Mind-muscle coordination is one of the most complex processes in any living being. If you proactively ‘think through the movement’, you send out a positive signal to the heart, vastly enhancing the quality of its function and allowing you to tap into resources such as creativity, wisdom, strength and compassion that lie within.

Yoga

At Shreyas, Yoga is the way of life. It is deeply enmeshed in all our therapies and is an integral part of all our holistic healing practices. No matter what level you are at, we welcome you. We offer group Yoga sessions twice a day and a group meditation session once a day for all our guests.

Yoga invigorates your body, opens your mind, and unleashes your spirit. It is derived from the word 'Yuj', or union, enjoining the mind, body and soul to become a single, unstoppable force. It amalgamates one’s Prakriti, the individual being, with the Purusha, the divine being.

At its core, Yoga is a journey of self-discovery to seek answers to our questions on life, to seek our reason for being, and to seek solace for the soul. It is an ethos. It embraces all–everyone, everything. It transgresses the physical and crosses over into the energetic field. Yoga elevates your awareness, enhances your consciousness, and uplifts your environment.

Yoga teaches us to live a life of balance and to live in harmony within ourselves, with others, and with our environment. It evokes grace and compassion, instilling in us a simple gratitude for our existence. It allows us to realise our true potential and to exceed it, to bring about deep, lasting transformation.

Our teachers are unique. Each one has individual characteristics and qualities that make him or her a profound human being. They bring a gamut of knowledge, insight and experience from different streams of Yoga, like Hatha, Ashtanga, and Vinyasa, to create a holistic healing experience. They bring you centuries-old techniques from ancient masters, integrated with modern teaching methods. Their training spans a variety of schools, including Shivananda Yoga, Power Yoga, Mysore Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and more.

For those of you who want to explore your practice more deeply, we offer special sessions on Pranayama to gain insight and regulate your breath, as well as Pratyahara, Dharana, and Dhayana to delve into the inner mind and being.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga is the oldest form of Yoga, dating back to ancient times, and is the root of all other yogic traditions. Derived from Sanskrit, 'Ha' means the moon, while 'Tha' means the sun; together, they become your ‘life force’. Hatha Yoga practice can improve flexibility, balance, and coordination, steadily building strength and endurance in the body while also reducing stress and promoting relaxation and mental clarity. It harnesses and channels the vital energy to create harmony.

Ashtanga Vinyasa

Ashtanga Vinyasa has a heightened energy, characterised by the flow of movement and a quicker pace. The breathing is synchronised with the movements. While it involves both asana (posture) and pranayama (breath), the emphasis lies on the transitions between positions and the seamless flow of each movement into the next. It is extremely dynamic, emphasising mental clarity and intense focus. Sometimes we reach an inflection point in our lives when we feel the need to reflect and look within.

Special Yoga Retreat

Shreyas offers you a sacred space for you to go deep into your mind, body and spirit. We customise your stay in such a way that it supports your inward journey. Our retreats are created in a manner that helps you to understand yourself within the context of your role and purpose in life. At Shreyas, Yoga is a holistic journey of self-discovery. It’s only when you allow the body, the breath, the mind and the soul to unfold and align with one another that you achieve total well-being. While the physical asanas are important, there are several other practices and techniques that augment your experience. Purify your inner being so that your breath and your energy flow freely. Some of these include:

Jalaneti - Nasal Irrigation

The sinus region and nasal pathways are cleared in order to allow the breath to flow freely by relieving congestion and cleansing the respiratory system, promoting overall respiratory health and mental relaxation.

Vamana Dhauti - Stomach Wash

The digestive tract is cleansed to facilitate detoxification of the digestive system, resulting in improved digestion and gut health.

Shankaprakshalana - Intenstinal Cleansing

The GI tract is cleansed to remove accumulated waste and toxins. This practice optimises digestion and the release of energy into the body.

Meditation

At Shreyas, we also offer you sound meditations, walking meditations, and healing meditations.
